Jowat Shows Innovative Adhesives for Sustainable Packaging at Scanpack

Detmold, October 14, 2024: When consistently sustainable bonding results are needed in packaging processes, the “Green Adhesives” of Jowat take center stage. The successful product range will be presented by the adhesive manufacturer and innovation driver at the Scanpack trade fair in Göteborg this year.

Sustainability is a topic with big challenges for the packaging industry: Modern packaging not only has to protect the goods inside, it is also expected to showcase the product and stand out on the shelf—all this while ecological aspects are continuously being optimized. This requires economical production processes which facilitate demanding packaging concepts and at the same time reduce the consumption of resources. Sustainable bonding solutions can play a crucial role to that end.

The innovative product range “Green Adhesives” has been developed by the adhesive manufacturer Jowat taking into account the many different requirements for sustainable bonding in packaging processes. “Depending on the requirements, our green adhesive portfolio offers biobased raw material contents, low energy and maintenance costs, and general compatibility with existing application systems as well as subsequent paper recycling processes for a circular economy,” promises Nicholas Orton, managing director at Jowat UK & Nordics.

Jowatherm® GROW 853.20 and Jowatherm® GROW 853.22, for example, are two hot melt adhesives which contain renewable raw materials extracted from pine resins. The certified amount of renewable raw materials is particularly high in the latter product: 51%. In addition, it impresses with a very wide range of adhesion which facilitates the reliable bonding of even demanding surfaces. Due to a very good flexibility at low temperatures, this adhesive can be used also for quick-freeze applications.

Jowatherm® PO 851.99 is the hot melt adhesive for high energy efficiency in production processes. With an extremely low processing temperature starting from 99°C, it facilitates energy savings of up to 45% in the bonding process. At the same time, the product is free of MOAH (below the typical detection threshold) and impresses with very clean processing characteristics, a wide range of adhesion and robust versatility. This combination makes Jowatherm® PO 851.99 an attractive choice for the packaging of temperature-sensitive products and dry or fatty food with a long storage life.

At Scanpack, Jowat will also be showcasing tried and trusted specialists: Jowatherm® PO 851.20 is a PO hot melt adhesive with an impressively high heat resistance. Whether elevated ambient temperatures, very short pressing times or strong restoring forces of the packaging materials—due to the very high initial strength, it can handle even difficult conditions, for example in hot filling processes or inside shipping containers.

In addition to the comprehensive and powerful adhesive portfolio, Jowat also offers expertise from over 100 years of experience in the industry and a remarkable range of services and support for products and processes alike. Meet the experts of Jowat Scandinavia AB at Scanpack in Göteborg, October 22 to 25, 2024, booth 21 in hall E00.
