Jowat to Make Debut at BAU 2025
BAU 2025 is the leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. In January, Jowat SE will make its debut at the exhibition, showcasing innovative adhesive technologies that play a significant role in tackling these challenges. “Adhesives play an indispensable role in modern architecture,” says Maik Johanntoberens, product manager at Jowat SE. “Beyond joining different materials, they also open the door to building elements with entirely new structures and designs. This is what we aim to highlight with our first participation in the BAU trade fair in Munich.” Adhesives based on polyurethane (PUR), in particular, have emerged as a key technology in this field. Their unique combination of strength and flexibility ensures the durable bonding of different materials, making them the preferred choice for complex applications, such as facade elements, all types of insulation materials, and glued timber construction, which has recently been gaining renewed interest.
In addition to providing a bond that can withstand high mechanical stress, PUR adhesives are characterized by their resistance to moisture, low and high temperatures, and aging. Due to these properties, they significantly contribute to the durability of buildings and play a prominent role in sustainable construction methods.
Adhesives as Enablers: Redefining Sustainability and Efficiency
In today’s construction industry, the demand for innovative solutions is greater than ever. Companies are increasingly focusing on the advantages of bonding, particularly in terms of sustainability and efficiency. Due to modern adhesive technologies, glued timber construction has been making a comeback. Wood is a natural and renewable raw material that sequesters CO₂, provides an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional materials like concrete.
Adhesives enable the manufacturing of lightweight and stable building elements. These technologies combine ecological and technical advantages and can connect different construction materials to facilitate previously unthinkable construction methods.
So-called sandwich structures consist of several different layers of e.g. wood, plastic, metal and a wide variety of insulation materials. These components are crucial for constructing energy-efficient building envelopes and effective insulation layers that significantly reduce the energy consumption of buildings. Due to their elasticity and flexibility, modern adhesives can adapt to thermal expansion and mechanical movements without compromising stability. In addition, the adhesives specially developed for this application contribute to long-lasting products with high resistance to weathering.
“We look forward to presenting our solutions at BAU 2025 and having in-depth discussions with trade fair visitors about the future in construction,” says Maik Johanntoberens, product manager at Jowat SE. “Our innovative adhesive technologies not only contribute to increased efficiency in construction but also represent a step toward a sustainable future.”
Apart from established adhesive systems, the focus will also be on innovative solutions such as Jowacoll® GROW 105.85. This biobased PVAc dispersion adhesive contains 20 percent renewable raw materials and an impressive performance.
Another highlight at the trade fair will be the VOC-free primer Jowat® 406.85, developed for wrapping plastic profiles and safeguarding the health of processors and consumers.
At booth 334 in hall B6, trade fair visitors will gain practical insights into the wide-ranging applications of modern adhesive technologies in building construction.
