Apart from their aesthetic appeal, wood windows also significantly contribute to a building’s energy efficiency. Their constant exposure to the elements requires high resistance levels. Wood windows are made from so-called window scantlings, which consist of several layers of wood bonded together using e.g. PVAc dispersion adhesives. High durability means strict requirements, which apply to the bonding also. Dispersion adhesives used for manufacturing window scantlings are therefore subject to several different standards.
Which requirements and standards apply is explained in this concise video.
